A small family winery

 

The family, hailing from the rural countryside, has rediscovered a passion for its verdant roots and origins. On the property, the old farmhouse has been renovated, the “casotti” (sheds) of the vineyards were restored to their original use, and a natural spring was brought back to life. Upon consulting expert enologists, along with advice from experienced local viticulturists, and with our own passion and dedication, we embarked on this unusual yet challenging adventure, which is ruled by the rhythms of nature. In the wake of a peasant tradition, the vineyards have been replanted in areas particularly suited for growing the native grape varieties. We decided to adopt methods designed to prioritize fruits of the highest quality. The name Fontechiara is a combination of two words: a tribute to Chiara and to spring water, found on the property with the help of a dowser.

Natural Wine

In the vineyard, we use organic fertilizers and practice a focused selection of the grapes in order to bring them to a perfect maturity. The vinification is carried out in respect of tradition, adopting the lunar calendar for each activity, and of innovation, using modern advanced techniques both in the cultivation of grapes and in the cellar. Intentionally with a low yield per hectare, the whole production process tends to maximize the peculiarities of each wine. We’ve banned chemical herbicides from our vineyards and we mainly use organic products as fertilizers, leaving the vines the possibility of taking all the minerals, such as iron, magnesium and calcium, from the soil. Our wines are certified “D.O.C. - Colline Novaresi” and have been awarded the mark of “Vegan Wines” since they are clarified without the use of animal derived additives

Health benefits 

Due to the particular composition of the soil here, our wines, made only with indigenous grape varieties, contain considerable amounts of resveratrol. This substance is known for its antioxidant qualities, which help to prevent the formation of blood clots. Consumed in moderate amounts, red wine also promotes the production of HDL, or good cholesterol, and the alcohol content, along with the resveratrol, anthocyanins and procyanidins, has a beneficial effect of dilating small arteries

Vegan Certification 

All our wines are "Vegan" certified because we do not use any animal derived products in all stages of the production. For the clarification process, we proceed by decantation, thus avoiding the use of clarifying agents such as casein or gelatine. Additionally, the glue we use for affixing labels comply with the regulations for the vegan certification
