Wine business Piedmont in restructuring

377 Piedmont winegrowers have received EUR 6.2 million from the region for vineyard restructuring. They can replace existing plants with more modern ones, which are of higher quality and have higher profitability on the market, thus contributing to improving the overall competitiveness of wine-growing in Piedmont. They are interested in the intervention of 405 hectares of residential area.

"The intervention is structural in nature, financed with European funds from Ocm Vino and includes an aid scheme for the adaptation and rationalization of Piedmont vineyards intended for the production of quality wines with a designation of origin: the strengths of our wine production and exports to the rest of the world," said the assessor for Agriculture Paolo Bongioanni. . In fact, mining and replanting are promoted, an operation that preserves the quality of our product over time. The aim is to increase the competitiveness of Piedmontese producers, support the retraining of some productions and encourage mechanization to reduce production costs often borne by small family farms or in conditions classified as "heroic" due to the altitude and slope of the land.

Supporting acreage already approved for doc and docg wines increases the quality of the vineyards, not the area of production. Beneficiaries can carry out crates and preparatory work, purchase plants and vines, wires and supports, and intervene to make the surfaces suitable for the use of modern machinery that facilitates harvesting, pruning and chopping.

At the provincial level, the 377 beneficiaries of the contributions are distributed as follows: Alessandria 108, Asti 168, Biella 2, Cuneo 91, Novara 2, Turin 6.

"The payments, entrusted to Arpea, provide for the payment of the advance of 80% by the spring of 2026 and the remaining 20% at the end of the work - specifies Bongioanni - And already in February we launch the new annual tender that will conclude the programming of the Ocm 2023-27."
