Ivaldi Dario

The winery Ivaldi Dario has its roots not only in a fertile soil of good vineyards, but also and above all in the history of a family that for decades has devoted itself to the production of excellent wines with great care, paternal dedication and loving commitment.

Great-grandfather Guido Ivaldi - a strong and determined man - bought the house with his wife Francesca in 1921. A name that was soon shortened with fun nicknames: Cichina was the name she carried for the rest of her life. However, it is not only this! Ivaldi Farm wanted to honor the historical memory of its ancestors by giving the same name to one of their most rich and brilliant wines: Barbera of Monferrato DOC with the precise name "Cichina." This wine has a fruity aroma, intense and persistent. In other words, a wine of character!

Both Guido and his son Pietro Ivaldi have dedicated their entire lives to growing grapes and wine production. However, it is his nephew Dario who started what would become a real commercial activity, with the aim of presenting his own excellence first on the national market and at a later stage on the international market. His capable, skillful and expert hands are the most vivid evidence of this. The three reinforced concrete barrels, built together with the house and placed in the old cellars, represent the most precious legacy of a past that still continues.

The fate of the farm benefits from a further increase in prestige and development thanks to his son Andrea, the last of Ivaldi's ancestors. Andrea graduated from the Oenological School of Alba in 2001 and in 2007 obtained his degree in Oenology from the Facoltà Agraria (Agricultural University) of Grugliasco. His education and the experience he gained strengthened his will to give the winery that dynamism and modern attitude that later manifested itself in exploring new markets, in expanding the client portfolio and in participating in the most famous fairs of the wine market. All this, of course, without losing sight of its family traditions and legacies: a vibrant lighthouse in these times.

The vineyards where hard work is done include, of course, new pieces of land - inevitable fruits of continuous and fruitful growth - but, above all, the old plots of family that still determine the success of the final product. Calcareous soils, hard but generous. "Piccona" is one such land and - surprisingly - it is found in an old deed from the 1920s. The name comes from its unyielding consistency reminiscent of the robustness of marl, so firm and stark that it even withstands pickaxes. A land so unwilling can only produce such invaluable nectar.

"The wine landscapes of Piedmont: Langhe-Roero and Monferrato" are now included on UNESCO's World Heritage List.

"Nizza Monferrato and Barbera" are among the areas that have received this prestigious recognition and it is here that the Azienda Agricola Ivaldi can be found. For three generations it has dedicated itself to viticulture and wine production, especially to this grape variety.

The wines produced come exclusively from the winery's grapes, with one vineyard located around the winery itself and the other half in Valle Vento. in the municipality of Castel Boglione. Most of this land is used for Barbera grapes, and the rest is divided between Moscato grapes, Dolcetto, Brachetto d'Acqui, Cortese, Favorita, Freisa. and Chardonnay, The shape of the vines is typical of Piedmont, known as Guyot.

The vineyards are in a good location to ensure sunlight and the soil consists of clay, silt and a small amount of limestone.

The workers in this vineyard consist exclusively of one family who work diligently on every phase of winemaking, from pruning and trimming to harvesting. Special care is needed for all the operations required to turn the grapes into wine, the use of the wine press and stem remover, fermenting the must in cement vats with a long fermentation, with pouring being done manually.

The next stage is a delicious blend of tradition and technology, in a way to obtain real wine, preserving the custom and tradition in each vine.

The wines produced are exclusively from the winery's grapes. They have 8 acres of vineyards. One half is on the grounds of the winery
