Ruché from Piedmont

 Aromatic, elegant and unmistakably Piedmontese

Ruché is one of Piedmont’s most unique and expressive red wines. Made from the rare indigenous Ruché grape, this wine stands out for its beautiful floral aromas, lively red fruit character and soft, velvety texture. It is a wine with personality — elegant and refined, yet wonderfully approachable.

Ruché originates from the rolling hills around Castagnole Monferrato in the Asti region of Piedmont and has become one of the region’s hidden gems. The combination of floral scents, spicy depth and fresh fruit makes this wine unlike almost any other Italian red wine.

Grape variety

Ruché is made from 100% Ruché grapes, an ancient indigenous variety found almost exclusively in the Monferrato hills of Piedmont. Today, it falls under the prestigious Ruché di Castagnole Monferrato DOCG appellation, which highlights both its rarity and quality.

Appearance

In the glass, Ruché displays a deep ruby red colour with vibrant violet reflections, reflecting both its youthful freshness and aromatic intensity.

Primary flavour notes

Ruché is loved for its distinctive and layered flavour profile:

  • Rose petals and violets

  • Sour cherries and wild cherries

  • Raspberries and blackberries

  • Subtle spicy and earthy notes

  • Hints of cinnamon, cloves and black pepper

The floral notes are particularly characteristic and give Ruché its unmistakable identity.

Aromatic profile

The nose is intense, fragrant and immediately inviting. Floral aromas of roses and violets rise from the glass, followed by fresh red berries and darker fruit notes. As the wine opens up, delicate spicy notes emerge, along with hints of dried herbs and soft earthy nuances. This elegant balance between flowers, fruit and spices is what makes Ruché so enchanting.

Taste

On the palate, Ruché is dry, smooth and medium-bodied. The tannins are soft and silky, making the wine accessible yet offering structure and depth. Fresh acidity keeps everything lively and balanced, whilst flavours of ripe red fruit and subtle herbs linger pleasantly on the finish.

Wine style

Dry red wine — aromatic, medium-bodied and elegant.

Pairings

Thanks to its freshness and soft tannins, Ruché is extremely versatile with food. It pairs beautifully with:

  • Roasted or braised meats such as lamb, veal and pork

  • Game dishes, including venison, duck and wild boar

  • Mushroom dishes and pasta with truffle

  • Medium-aged and mature cheeses

  • Charcuterie and antipasti platters

Ruché is just as enjoyable during sophisticated dinners as it is during relaxed evenings with good food and good company.
