Piemonte Today
Today, July 26, 2026, we closed a special chapter. The very last Piemonte Tasting Durbuy of July has come to an end. But the story is far from over. In August, too , we’ll once again welcome everyone who wants to immerse themselves in the soul of Piedmont —every Friday, Saturday, and Sunday .
The focus isn’t on the well-known international grape varieties, but on the authentic local varieties that make this region so unique. White, rosé, and red: each wine tells a story about the landscape, history, and people of Piedmont.
What perhaps surprised us the most? In early June, we wrote just one blog post to announce our tastings. Yet no fewer than 4,500 readers found their way to that post (as tracked by Inspectlet). This led to numerous reservations: couples, groups of friends, and even companies looking to enjoy a tasting together after a meeting. Incidentally, that last group accounted for less than 5% of all reservations (which makes sense, since after June 15, no company was organizing any more events for staff or clients).
Even more remarkable was that over 80% of our guests had never tasted a wine from Piedmont before. For many, a whole new world of wine literally opened up. Some even asked if “Piedmont” might be a hamlet in Burgundy... We couldn’t help but smile at that. That’s exactly why we do this: to help people discover a region that deserves so much more attention.
But we also received some criticism. And it was justified!
Several people pointed out that our original blog post didn’t mention the address or exact location of the tasting anywhere. This made it difficult to gauge exactly where the tasting took place and how far it was, for example, from Le Sanglier des Ardennes, La Table de Manon, or Adventure Valley.
We fully understand that comment. However, there’s a specific reason for this.
Why we don’t publicly disclose our address…
Number one
On our own property, we have approximately 1.5 hectares of natural grounds and buildings. Nevertheless, we’ve made a conscious decision to host only 10—or, in exceptional cases, a maximum of 12—guests at a time. In reality, over 80% of our reservations are for groups of two to four people.
We host larger groups at an external location nearby, where hotel, restaurant, and meeting facilities are available.
After all, our estate is much more than just a tasting room. It’s a place with a story. An authentic old farmhouse built of Condroz stone, completely renovated between 2016 and 2019 while preserving its centuries-old structure, where Belgian heritage and tranquility come together. You’ll only discover that once you’re here.
Number Two
Anyone who visits our estate isn’t really a customer, but our guest.
You’ll be welcomed right where my partner and I live. We often sit together in our—by Flemish standards—particularly spacious gardens, surrounded by nature.
With 4,500 readers on our blog, it doesn’t feel right to simply make our private address public. As soon as someone requests a quote or reservation with a desired date and the number of guests, we’ll of course share all the practical information right away.
Another surprise you’ll only discover once you’re there
This wasn’t in the original blog post either.
If you purchase at least €120 worth of wine during or after the tasting (for a minimum of two people), participation in the tasting is completely free—even if there are only two of you.
Why didn’t we mention that beforehand?
Durbuy attracts a lot of bachelor/bachelorette parties and groups looking for a cheap afternoon with plenty of alcohol. That’s deliberately not the audience for whom we organize these tastings.
Our Piedmont Tastings were born out of a love for a special wine region. We invest a lot of time, knowledge, energy, and enthusiasm to introduce people to the grapes, the stories, and the wine culture of Piedmont. We want to welcome guests who are curious, eager to taste, discover, and enjoy—not those who are simply looking for the cheapest way to spend an afternoon drinking wine.
