Nas-Cëttaland: meanwhile 11 producers with ultra interesting top white cellarwine
NOVELLO
In recent days, in the presence of more than 40 journalists and representatives of the institutions of the wine world, the first official presentation of the Association of Producers of Nas-cëtta of the City of Novello was held.
Nas-cëttaland virtual (this is the name given to the event), is only the first step of a wider project aimed at discovering Nas-cëtta and its territory. The next appointment, this time in Novello, is scheduled for June 2021 for two days to discover not only the cellars of the 11 producers, but also the many stars of this little jewel of the Langhe. The event, which will be called Nas-cëttaland, will be aimed at journalists, experts in the sector and enthusiasts, who will have the opportunity to visit the wineries and tasting stalls. There will also be moments of in-depth analysis, including guided tastings and seminars.
The virtual meeting was attended as a "host" by the producers who are members of the association: Stefano Pesci (Arnaldo Rivera), Savio Daniele (Le Strette), Luca Marenco (Luca Marenco), Marco TARICCO (La pergola), Silvio Cogno (Cascina Gavetta), Davide Vietto (Vietto), Paolo Sartirano (Sansilvestro), Omar Sanino (Casa Baricalino), Daniele Marengo (Marengo Mauro), Maresa Stra (Stra) and Valter Fissore (Elvio Cogno), who chaired the meeting. A unique opportunity for participants to taste the wines of the 11 producers of the vintages 2018 and 2019 and celebrate the tenth anniversary of the inclusion of Nas-cëtta di Novello in the Langhe DOC. Among the participants also the regional president of the Italian Sommelier Association Fabio Gallo.
An important step in the knowledge was the tasting, which also made it possible to discover the history of this grape variety through the voices of those who rediscovered it and put it back in the limelight after years of oblivion. The first evidence of Nas-cëtta in Novello dates back to the 1800s, a period in which authoritative sources speak of it as "a very delicate grape and an excellent wine" with characteristics similar to the Rhine Rieslings, a grape how delicate and not very productive, and for this reason long forgotten in favor of more productive vines such as Nebbiolo da Barolo, which has made the Langhe famous throughout the world. This native grape, rediscovered in the early 90s, owes its success to the tenacity and passion of a handful of producers.
The prize of expertise in production Nas-Cëtta was awarded by the Belgian, Dutch and Luxembourg representatives of sommeliers, Flemish & Walloon journalists, evening schools in wine induction and wine distributors to Cascina Gavetta for its most authentic Nas-Cëtta. This event Nas-Cëtta for the Belgian tasting attended by all representatives was realized in the surroundings of Durbuy in the Piedmont Wine Works.  A report of this event will follow in the next weeks.
