Bottles were sold in Turin to the value of 100 thousand euros.
Wine auction - Among the favourite safe havens for savers and investors around the world, fine wines and spirits have grown steadily for at least a decade. This was confirmed by the recent Bolaffi auction held in Turin on 26 November. 876 lots from selected private wineries were auctioned off.
The sale ended, after more than eleven consecutive hours, with a total proceeds of €835,000. Ninety-nine percent of the lots in the catalogue were sold. There were 480 participants from all over the world, a record.
There were many bids for each individual lot, with strong increases in the basic auction values: in many cases there was a doubling of the initial value. Incredible success, particularly for Italian wines, whose prices have now reached those of the French. Piedmont was in the spotlight, with rare bottles of Bruno Giacosa, both the white and red reserve label. In various vintages and formats, including a batch consisting of six bottles of Barolo Falletto di Serralunga Riserva red label 1990. But fans were also interested in a very rare bottle of Barolo Monfortino 1955. This was auctioned for ten thousand euros and sold for twenty thousand, doubling its value.
