It’s impossible to talk about the renaissance of the modern Italian wine without mentioning Angelo GAJA. With his influential, creative and visionary personality he has, for half a century, paved the way for the Italian wine world from ‘cheap and cheerful’ to elegant, fine wines of top quality. With a degree in oenology from the Scuola dell’Enologia in Alba, a Master’s degree in economics from the University of Turin, and the local success of his father Giovanni Gaja, Angelo had all that he needed to build a successful, internationally oriented family business with an excellent strategy plan.
The payment of 300 € per person for GAJA WINE TASTING is completely for charity. So 300 € from this amount is directly payed to GAJA winery.
Where until 2013 it was not possible to visit the GAJA winery some rules changed and we are able to offer visits to winery.
Of course we represent this only as a full day activity along with other visits to very well know wineries, lunch and visiting the two most appreciated villages: Barbaresco & Barolo.
9.45 am - Pick up in your hotel by your guide/driver. Before we head to Gaja winery we shortly drive through Neive, and visit the centre of Barbaresco
11 am - Visit of the GAJA winery, cantina and tasting of their worldwide awarded wines. If weather conditions are favourable we also visit one of their vineyards and have a full explanation of the process.
01 pm – Light Lunch in a restaurant which can definitely be described as “off the beaten path” in every way as you are all surrounded by vineyards.
03.30 pm - Visit of the Sordo Giovanni Winery, where you will visit of the wine cellar 12 meter underground and taste Barolo Riserva wines from 2006 and other selections. (tour and tasting 1.15 minutes)
05.00 pm - Visit of the winery which is the talk of town among all Barolo lovers, as even before opening it has won in Rome the architectural price for design. It is very surprising because the reason why the winery came over there was a very non-traditional issue, the concept is spectacular and their wines are rewarded by the most prestigious wine journalists. Which winery are we talking about? L”Astemia Pentita, top level Cannubi winery.
Tasting of Barolo Cannubi wines from 2010 to 2014.
