Giacomo Conterno

Making traditional Piedmontese wines has been the life goal of the family Conterno for three generations. Giacomo Conterno, grandfather of Roberto Conterno, once started making wine and today his efforts result in a production of 50,000 bottles.

For a small player this family manages quite impressive wine cellars and everything between the vineyard and the logistics is run very professionally, especially the charming Monforte.

With only three wines, Barbera d’Alba, Barolo Cascina Francia and Barolo Riserva Monfortino, they still enjoy a global success. Until the mid-70s, the family bought the grapes from the best vineyards in the region. Later they decided to acquire their own vineyard in Serralunga, the Cascina Francia vineyard.

The Monfortino is the result of only the best vintages. It is vinified separately and is then stored in Slovenian oak barrels for seven years.
